The US Justice Department have officially joined a lawsuit brought forward by California Republicans, aiming to prevent the California's newly approved congressional redistricting map.
This legal action, submitted to federal court, targets the map championed by Governor Gavin Newsom, which was created in reaction against a GOP redistricting effort in Texas.
"California's electoral map constitutes a blatant attempt to seize control that tramples on voting rights and undermines the electoral system," stated the US attorney general.
